Welcome to the world, John Clifford Seidlitz
[For more pictures, check out my Picasa Web Album.]
In naming our third child, Amy and I would like to honor two men whose names really do need to live on in the Seidlitz family. John Clifford is named after a grandfather on each side of the family.
From Eric: John Seidlitz is my father’s father, the first generation of American-born Seidlitzes. When I was a kid, my brother and I typically spent at least a few weeks with Grandpa and Grandma every summer. We went gem hunting, to amusement parks, to national and state parks, and anywhere else kids like to go. From Grandpa and Grandma I learned cribbage and pinochle. Grandpa’s blintzes (crêpes) live on at our home, where I have made them every Saturday for the past three years or so.
John Seidlitz is a World War II veteran, and worked for NASA until he retired some time ago. He always demonstrated the utmost love and care for his wife, especially during her many trials with cancer. And now at almost 89 years old, he continues to show love and care for his son and his grandchildren and great grandchildren. It is no accident that three generations of Seidlitzes (a son, a grandson, and now a great grandson) bear his name.
From Amy: My grandfather, Clifford Smith, passed away in July 2006. I had the privilege of being by his side just hours before he went to Heaven. He was a man of few words, but full of love and concern for all the members of his family, and for many other people who came across his path. He was a hard worker, a devoted church member, and a follower of Jesus. His Bible was always nearby his chair and he often told me how much me prayed for me and my siblings. Until his last days on earth, he cared for my grandma through her various illnesses and showed such a strong commitment to her. He is an example to me of faithfulness to God and family and sacrificial love.
We pray that our son, John Clifford, will grow to be a man of integrity and commitment like his great-grandfathers.

I love honouring our roots… we certainly are part of a huge story, aren’t we?!
May the Jesse Tree find meaning in your home over the Christmas period also- it is such a great way to remember the story of Jesus: our story
(We are having fun with it- finally! I wanted to do it so long-)
Love to you all. I want to snuggle up to John Clifford too.
May he be a gem to his parents and family.
Congrats, folks.
