(Hm! "Comments" don't seem to be enabled for your "Shooting board" post).

No scraps: is the [mysteriously un-named] SE Asian country you're living in open to dumpster-diving? A lot of my scrap came from seeing a board lying on the side of the road, or seeing a construction dumpster (Aussies call it a ''skip'') in someone's front yard, and seeing a few pieces of lumber sticking out. Legally, I **think** once something's thrown away, it's up for grabs.

Why 45 degrees both ways? -- I'm just guessing (not having a shooting board, myself), but how about if you're doing moulding or a picture frame, where it's not practical to put the piece face-down? (I don't know if I've said that clearly...)

The harder thing seems to be using a backsaw as a rip saw -- the back gets in the way!!! :)

I'm still reading (chronologically) your backlog of your blog -- but it seems like using an (inexpensive) wooden chair as a sawhorse/sawbench -- plus some clamps -- would be the way to go...
